Live up to your Resolutions & Vision Board Aspirations in 2014

15 Jan

On yesterday January 14, 2013 I decided to leave the office for lunch instead of sitting in my cubicle pretending that I am having lunch when in reality I am still working. I was in the mood for Shrimp and Grits so I decided to come to Broad Way Diner located in Fayetteville, GA. It’s a great spot for me to escape the day’s hustle and bustle of the corporate world. I celebrated my 38th Birthday on this past Saturday and a few of my aspirations are to expand my business, continue on my blogging journey, travel to at least five new places in the world, take my kids to at least three states that they have never visited and enlarge my territory. I was sitting in my cubicle today and I realized that may of the people that I work with will never live their true dreams, never reach for anything other than what they can see in front of them, never truly experience life because of fear or aspire for better. Why? I have learned in my experience that just as the saying goes “A closed mouth will never get feed”. I encounter countless individuals daily that have million dollar ideas but penny ambition to work hard to see their dreams come to fruition. I thank God daily for creating me a “fearless woman”. Its 2014 and I’m sure New Year resolutions have been made and vision boards created but my question to you is what have you done up to today that has put you one step closer to your dreams/goals? You’re vision board is compiled of many things that you hope to accomplish in 2014 but what have you done to drive the process. You have to put in the work. Have you put in the work? One must not sit around and expect for a successful business, new car or home, new position at work or that much deserved raise to fall in your lap. Life just doesn’t work that way. YOU HAVE TO PUT IN THE WORK!

Here are Naturalbabydol’s Tips to pursuing your 2014 Goals:

1.            Create your vision board or purchase a journal and make it your vision or dream journal. (I do both so that I have a board at home and a journal that I can have readily in my purse)

2.            Once your aspirations, goals and dreams are written then re-write them individually on post its. (I prefer the long ones so I can write more)

3.            Take the post it notes and stick them in the places you are the most in your house (Bedroom mirror or window, refrigerator, cupboards, doors, laundry room. OK you get the idea! I also stick them in my cubicle at work)

4.            Break down your goals in dreams. Prioritize them so that you can get a better understanding of which ones are easier to meet than the others.

5.            Conduct research. Find a mentor. Arm yourself with like-minded individuals.

One aspiration that I wrote in my vision board was to be able to serve on a blogging team for 2014. Although I am fairly new to the blogging world in my mind there are no limitations. I may not be ranked among the top sought after bloggers but who says that I can’t accomplish what I desire to in the blogging world. I wrote the vision and made a plan, and then I started to contact various conferences. Why? Because I will never be afforded the opportunity if I don’t sell myself and distinguish what sets me apart from others. I have the opportunity to tell to the world who I am, what I can bring to the table and how I can build a brand. Because of my aggressiveness I have been selected to work on two blogging teams so far. How’s that for putting in the work? This was just one of many goals written in my vision book and one more entry that I can mark off as complete. I challenge everyone to write the vision, make a plan and PUT IN THE WORK!

Imagine how excited the kids and I were to see that we had a brand new restaurant that had just opened in our area this month. We have passed by it several times and I promised the boys that we would go there to eat over their Christmas break and what better day to go than New Year’s Eve. The restaurant is located in Fayetteville, GA off of Lanier Ave/Hwy 54. I was told by the hostess that its the first of its kind among many more different ones to come. I have always been a fan of Chick-fil-A and their awesome service. I can’t ever remember a time when I have ever had bad service at one of their restaurants and that’s one of the primary reasons why we dine there at least twice a month.

The moment that we entered the restaurant we were greeted and immediately seated. The restaurant was decorated with Hawaii décor and the servers were dressed in Hawaiian theme uniforms…too cute! Here’s a look at what they have to offer on their menu:

  • Calamari
  • Roasted Shrimp
  • King Hawaiian Rolls

Soups & Salads:

  • Asian Salad
  • Cobb Salad
  • Island Chicken Salad & Greens
  • Chicken Noodle, Vegetable & Creamy Potato

  • Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich
  • Luau Fish Sandwich
  • Aloha Fish Sandwich
  • Truett’s Luau Burger
  • Chick-fil-A Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich
  • Island Chicken Salad Sandwich
  • Chick-fil-A Nuggets
  • Chick-fil-A Grilled Nugget

  • Seared Ahi Tuna
  • Mahi Mahi
  • Maui Shrimp
  • Traditional Hawaiian Plate

  • Loco Moco
  • Chick-fil-A Breakfast
  • Chick-n-Mini Breakfast
  • Banana Macadamia Nut Pancake
  • Aloha Breakfast

  • Handspun Milkshakes
  • Pineapple Macadamia Nut Milkshake
  • Hawaiian Shaved Ice
  • Frosted Pineapple
  • Kouko Cake

Of course the kids decided on chicken nugget kids meals and Hawaiian Shaved Ice for dessert. I decided to have the Maui Shrimp which was served with jasmine rice and stir-fry vegetables. I did not want the vegetables so I decided to get waffle fries instead. The atmosphere at the restaurant was simply amazing and it is indeed a great place to visit. The highlights of the restaurant include the fact that their is a waterfall outside that you can enjoy while eating which will be greatly appreciated in the warmer months and lets not forget that you can also host luau parties here in the warmer months. How cool is that? I can’t wait until the spring. Stay tuned for future post as they have upcoming events in 2014.

I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas. I felt the need to write this post on Toys R Us’s new android Tabeo e2 Tablet which was supposed to be the next generation of awesome tablets for kids. After conducting weeks of research and reading countless reviews I decided to purchase a set for my two younger sons ages 10 and 7. My primary reason for the purchase was to one provide them with educational tablets that in others opinions had been compared to an iPad except this was a less expensive version and more kid friendly. I currently own both an iPad2 and a mini iPad and my kids are on them non-stop conducting research for school, watching kid movies or playing games. I figured this purchase would be a great investment.  First of all these little boogers are not easy to find. I searched for over a month trying to locate these devices. I had to travel to multiple counties here in Atlanta to finally get my hands on two of them. Ok lets fast forward to Christmas Eve night. I was  already up super late playing Santa Claus and imagine how disappointed I was when I plugged the devices in to charge and two hours later attempted to complete the parental information on the tablet. The tablets will not work if you do not complete the parental information and the issue that I was having is that the tablet would not load. UGH!!! Not to mention that I purchased two and neither one of them worked correctly. I gave the tablets try after try to no avail did neither one of them work. Needless to say that I was livid! So the kids never knew that they had them and I returned then to Toys R Us on the day after Christmas only to find out from the nice lady at customer service that they have been getting returns on the Tabeo E2 all day. All I could do was say Wow! This tablet gets zero stars from this Mommy!

Powerocks Review Week One

24 Dec

Blogger 101: Always have a charger on hand in the event that your iPhone, iPad or Android phones battery completely dies.

I was excited to find out that I was chosen to receive the Powerocks Magicstick to demo and provide an honest review on the product.  I allowed my Magicstick to completely charge over night so that I would be able to effectively give my honest review on how it stands up against previous brands that I have used in the past. Honestly for me I am on Social Media from the time I wake up in the morning until the time that I go to sleep at night so one can only imagine how many times my battery dies on all of my devices in a day. On yesterday I decided to put the Magicstick to the test. I discovered that both my iPhone 4S and iPhone5 batteries were dying so I plugged my iPhone4S which had a 40% charge @ 11:46am  into the Magicstick for its first charging session and here where the results:

I can say from my experience that the charging process was quick and needless to say that I was happy so I decided to charge my iPhone5 as well. The iPhone5 was already at 69% when I began to charge it and here are its results:

  • @12:43pm the charge was @69%
  • @1:08pm the charge was @90%
  • @1:21pm the charge was @97%
  • @1:31pm the charge was @100%

Hey in my book that’s lightning fast charging especially for a Social Media Manager and Blogger. I am constantly on the go and using all of my devices to post up to the minute moments on social media. I was also able to charge both devices a second time later on in the day so hey…so far so good! Stay tuned for more news on my Powerocks Magicstick.

On last Thursday I was invited to the Godiva Chocolatier Store at Lenox Place here in Atlanta by Oh! Nikka for a bloggers night out event. The evening began with us being greeted by one of the associates with cups of yummy Godiva Dark Hot Chocolate along with wonderful goodie bags filled with chocolate. We were then taken on a tour of the store where we learned about the history of Godiva, where the name originated from and the differences with the chocolates. The evening ended well with me of course purchasing my favorite Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Reindeer Chocolate Lollipops for my two younger sons along with a gift set box of three hot chocolate tins for the kids. The evening ended FABULOUS!!

Power Rocks Magic Stick

11 Dec

My life is very hectic. I am a single mother of three kids, Social Media Manager and a Lifestyle Blogger. One can not imagine what a typical day looks like for me. People hear that you’re a Social Media Manager and they think it’s the easiest job in the world but no one understands how much work is involved, traveling to events and the millions of times that I post on Social Media outlets throughout both the day and night. Basically its a 24/7 career but I absolutely love it. One can only imagine how many times my iPad, iPad Mini and iPhone go dead. Trust me its too many times to count so when the opportunity arose for me to try out a new gadget, well lets just say I was excited to be afforded the opportunity.

Just incase you’re not familiar with the Magicstick here are some exciting pointers about this charger:

  1. The Magicstick  2800mAh is compact and lightweight which is great for a Social Media Maven like myself always on the go.
  2. The Magicstick 2800mAH size is perfect because it fits in any pocket, purse or backpack and you never have to worry of getting stuck with a phone or mobile device.
  3.  The Magicstick is easy to use and  carry. A single USB port and corresponding cable with micro to USB connections let  you charge a variety of devices seamlessly.
  4.  The Magicstick also features a  smooth, brushed aluminum finish available in a variety of colors. An included  drawstring carry case keeps it protected and always handy for use. Just grab,  go, and get charged up with the Magicstick.

The Magicstick can be found on www.powerocksmedia.com and retails for $49.99 and is available in the following colors: black, blue, red, silver, pink, green and charcoal. The battery capacity is 2800mAh and has a lithium battery. I’m super excited to have the opportunity to review the Magicstick  and I can not wait to see if the Magicstick can handle my demands. I haven’t received my charger yet and I will post weekly updates on my experience with the Magicstick.

Touch Screen Compatible Gloves!!!

9 Dec

I was rushing off to Jury Duty today and I realized that I had left my cute little bow tie gloves at home so I decided to stop by my local Wal-Mart to grab a pair and to my surprise I found these unique Touch Screen Compatible Gloves. OMG! These are a Social Media Maven’s dream at least mine. I love to play dress up but I can not stand for my hands to get cold. I have found that in the winter seasons my hands get extremely cold and I love to wear gloves all day. In my field a normal day is having my laptop, iphone, ipad2 and mini ipad available because I’m posting something every minute of the day and I find that I always have to take  my right glove off but not anymore!!! I’m in Social Media Heaven! I’m so happy that Wal-Mart sells these and of course I brought a pair in every color. If you’re a social media junkie like me and you’re in Wal-Mart stop by their accessory section and grab you a pair or two!  Did I mention that they only cost $2.00!!! #TEAMWINNING

Influenster #JollyVoxBox

15 Jan

Can you tell how happy I was to finally receive my very first box from Influenster? Let’s just say I was pretty darn excited to go to my postal box and find a box of goodies for me to try. So with anymore wait lets get to it. Just incase you have never heard of Influenster let me give you the details:

Influenster is a free-to-join community of trendsetters, social media masterminds, and educated consumers who live to give opinions of products and experiences. Influenster invites its most active members to participate in exclusive VoxBox programs where members receive complimentary products to test and review.  In exchange,  we the bloggers and influensters  do what we love to do: share our opinions with our friends & followers on social media! So what is a VoxBox you ask? VoxBoxes are boxes filled with complimentary products from your favorite (or soon-to-be-favorite) brands. If your interested simply go to http://www.influenster.com

In this particular #JollyVoxBox I received a six count of Skinny Cow Peanut Butter Crème Divine Filled Chocolate Candy, 10 2-Ply Puffs Plus Lotion Tissues, Decorative Duck Tape Mini Duckling, NYC New York Color HD Trio Color eye shadow and Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer.

This was my first time trying the Skinny Cow Candy and trust me although they are only 130 calories they are yummy. I will admit that I thought that they would taste like a diet treat but I was pleasantly surprised. The kids also enjoyed the Skinny Cows as well and I have now added them as an extra treat on my grocery list. As a mother puffs are regularly used in my house and the plus lotion gave them a super soft feel. The NYC New York Color HD Trio Color eye shadow was awesome and it was a plus that they were more of a natural tone which is what I normally wear to work and more popping colors when going out to events. The Decorative Duck Tape was an item that I have often looked at in the store countless times but just never made the decision to actually purchase one and to my surprise I have the opportunity to finally try it. I was a bit creative with mine and covered an old cracked cell phone case. Lastly there was the Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer and the color was Luna. This was indeed not the color for my skin tone. I was not particularly pleased with it nor did I think in my opinion that it looked good on me either so I plan on gifting it to my sister because she has the skin tone color to pull of the look.

In my opinion I was pleasantly pleased with my #JollyVoxBox and will indeed be adding the items to my list of new items for 2014.
