18 Dec

On yesterday December 16 I had the pleasure of being invited out along with my two younger sons ages 10 & 7 to attend Twentieth Fox Home Entertainment Celebration of the December 17th Blu-ray/DVD release of Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters with a charity event to support Project Linus at the Georgia Aquarium here in Atlanta. The Charity event consisted of volunteers from UPS, Mommy & Lifestyle Bloggers and their kids. The night began with a red carpet event that included photos and interviews. Shortly thereafter we all proceeded to the Arctic Ballroom where we began the nights festivities by making handmade fleece blankets. The fleece blankets that we made were inspired by the Golden Fleece in the film. Fox has partnered with Project Linus to bring family and friends together to make over 200 handmade fleece blankets for Project Linus’ 15th Annual National Make A Blanket Day which will be held on February 15, 2014.  Up to 200 handmade fleece blankets will be created for children in need as part of Fox’s commitment to donate 1,000 handmade fleece blankets. In conjunction Atlanta-based UPS also served as a partner to last nights event.

UPS is proud to kick off its annual Peak Week, its busiest week of the year, by giving back to its hometown Atlanta. On Dec. 17, Peak Day for UPS and release date of Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters on Blu-ray and DVD, UPS expects to deliver 29 million packages globally equaling more than 300 packages a second. UPS volunteered to ship the handmade fleece blankets to Project Linus through The UPS Store, which is ready to help customers throughout the holidays with hassle-free logistics and any shipping needs. UPS’s support of the Project Linus charity event aligns with its goals of delivering more than boxes during the holidays but rather delivering emotional connections and allowing customers to focus on the things that matter most.

The magical, mythical adventures of teenager Percy Jackson – son of the Greek God Poseidon continue in this heroic, action packed thrill ride! Out to prove he’s not just a “one-guest wonder”, Percy and hos demigod friends embark on an epic. cross-country journey into the treacherous Sea Monsters, where they battle terrifying creatures, an army of zombies, and the ultimate evil. With time running out, Percy must find and bring home the fabled Golden Fleece, which has the power to save the world…and save us all!

I remember when Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters had its opening night at the movies. The week following the opening night my sons secretly made plans on how they would convince me to take them to see the movie on opening night but little did they know that I had already purchased our tickets in advance so that we would be amongst the first to see Percy Jackson’s newest adventure. I am a single mother of three sons ages 17, 10 & 7. I find that I am at the movies seeing more kid movies than adult ones. I will have to admit I think that I was probably more excited to see Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters more than my two younger sons. I was one of those students in school that could not wait until we cover Greek Methodology.

The Project Linus event in my opinion was the perfect event for the release of Percy Jackson’s: Sea of Monsters. The evening was spent with the kids enjoying the movie, great food and communication and an opportunity for my family to give back to others. I believe the highlight of the evening was when my two sons had the opportunity to meet Cashmere (Stephanie Leigh Schlund) from Hunger Games! If you could have seen the excitement in their eyes and the eagerness in their voice. The moment was priceless and as a mother that’s the best feeling in the world. I wasn’t sure if after a fantastic evening anything could top the eventful evening but when the boys asked to see what was in the swag bag they discovered that they had their very own Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters DVD.  Below you will find official pictures from the event.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and UPS celebrate the December 17th Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD(TM) release of Percy Jackson: Sea of  Monsters with an exclusive charity event to support Project Linus at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta on Monday, December 16th. Inspired by the Golden Fleece in the film, event goers made  handmade fleece blankets for kids in need to kick off Project Linus’  annual National Make a Blanket Day on February 15th.

I was blessed to have the opportunity as a blogger to be apart of such a wonderful event and I look forward to helping make fleece blankets in the future with Project Linus. I would like to thank Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, UPS and Project Linus for allowing the bloggers to come together for a great cause.

Walt Disney’s Frozen

9 Dec

As many of you may already know that I have three sons ages 17, 10 & 7. The 17-year-old is of course in his own world of sports so the two little ones and I always have a date night at least once a month and many times its twice a month. We decided to go and see Disney’s new movie Frozen. Heres a little history on the movie: “It is the 53rd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. Loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen‘s fairy tale The Snow Queen, and featuring the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, and Santino Fontana, the film tells the story of a fearless princess who sets off on an epic journey alongside a rugged, thrill-seeking mountain man, his loyal pet reindeer, and a hapless snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frozen_(2013_film).

Frozen started off with a great beginning and kept you intrigued all through the movie. I find that as a mother is very important for me to always re-arrange my schedule to ensure that I have family time with my kids and Disney continues to make amazing movies over and over again. I can remember as a little girl watching all of the Disney movies and now as an adult I still get to enjoy them and with my kids. Disney you have done it again and we look forward to many more date nights with your amazing movies!

Mario’s Birthday Celebration @ Pins Strikes

25 Nov

My youngest son will be turing seven on this coming Friday November 29 but because I will be traveling abroad for business I decided to have his birthday celebration a week early. We chose Pins Strikes located in Stockbridge, GA because he wanted to bowl, ride on the bumper cars and play laser tag. The party was scheduled to start at 12:30 and when we arrived we were greeted by our host Erin who was absolutely the best host. The party began with the kids bowling against each other and two lanes and boy did they have a great time. Its amazing watching young men playing against each other and enjoying each others company. The kids enjoyed pizza and Superman Cupcakes made my yours truly (Snazzy Cakes, LLC.) then they went on to have a blast in the bumper cars which was a blast! I even rode and had a great time! The bumper cars are spinning bumper cars and allow you to move faster than the average bumper cars. The finally activity before they played in the arcade was laser tag. We had a blast playing against each other on teams trying to invade each others camp to earn the most points in hopes of becoming the champions. In my opionion Pins Strikes is a great place to host your childs birthday party and will indeed be the destination for our next party. We would like to thank Erin for her amazing service!

Thor-The-Dark- World

23 Nov

I surprised the boys on Friday with tickets to see Thor-The-Dark-World. I have an confession as a single mother of three sons I am forced to watch countless “boy movies” each and every time a new movie comes out because the boys never want to see the type of “girl movies”. The boys begged to go and see the first Thor and of course I took them and of course I was hooked. The first Thor movie was thebomb.com and of course I was probably more excited than the boys to go and see Thor-The-Dark-World. I promise that I will not spoil it for anyone so I will just say tell you to be prepared for an action pack film with a lot of surprises and the ending will surely keep you on the edge of your seat wondering.

Single Mother Encouragement

30 Oct
Good Morning! Today I felt inspired to post on my personal Facebook Page a simply, short yet true message that is very dear to my heart. The message was not posted to obtain responses but as a message to at least one single mother out there struggling; raising kids alone; in college; working two jobs or just feeling a little down. I wanted to share a small portion of my story with them.
Reposted from my personal facebook page:
I don’t like to talk personal but I must say this!! I’m a single divorced mother and I hear over and over that you can’t do anything with kids well let me say this… I have worked in Corporate America all my life. I have three sons ages 17, 10 & 6. I was unemployed for two years at one point but I didn’t let that hinder me because I decided to start a baking business and go back to school and earn my Masters in Public Administration. I continue travel the world  for both work and leisure with my kids and expose them to different cultures. I say this to that mother reading this…SINGLE MOTHERS ROCK! Don’t be discouraged because we do make a difference in our kids lives and the lives of others. This is no discredit to married couples because I was once a WIFE Too! See no one knows the next persons struggle or anything about their life. NEVER ASSUME ABOUT SOMEONES STORY!! I can truly say I love my life and I continue to work hard to provide for my kids and to work towards building more of my DREAMS!

I have to give GOD all praises and glory. The past two years he has allowed me to hold numerous positions in the industry that will equip me with the knowledge to carry any business to the next level. When I look back on my career I have held the following positions: Executive, Store Manager, Logistics, Sales, Marketing, Social Media, Accounting, Product Development, Recruiting and Teaching to name a few. I have been exposed to things that others will never experience. Although my life has a story that many would have never survived…I am still here and standing strong. I drive and motivate myself to THE BEST!! I’m my own cheerleader! When I look in the mirror I am very proud of myself and so are my three kids.
